Charlie and Naomi

This blog is an online version of the album of pictures of my father's family that I put together a few years ago. It was something of a personal journey, seeing their lives played out before me in black and white, and by the time I was finished I felt much closer to them than I had ever been. In a sense, they became more alive to me than they had ever been.
And so, I dedicate this page to the memory of my grandparents,
Charlie and Naomi.

This is awesome, Abbey! The pictures look better on the screen than for real. I think you are right about "the country" really being Kenmore. I remember Grandma saying that as she looked north from Kenmore Avenue it was all hay fields. How neat that you also include pictures of the houses today-it makes a nice comparison.

Abbey,

Lynda stumbled across your page by accident and was so impressed that she sent me the link without telling me what it was. It was quite a shock to click on it and see my parents.

This is a terrific page. You really did a lot of work, and there are pictures here that I have never seen before.

Thanks,
Uncle Dave

Hi Abbey, I have spent TWO years doing family trees. My husband is John Pilkey. You can't begin to imagine how thrilled I was to google "Mary Ann Cooper" and find your blog. I had one photo of Charles J. Pilkey but none of Mary Ann!!! I have a photo of Olive Pilkey Wetmore (Edna's sister), James Roy (Edna's younger brother) and Hannah Bell Pilkey (Charles' mother). Would love to share with you. Please contact me. Thanks soooo much. Charyleen@aol.com in Amherst NY
